These are just a few lines to tell you about a recent change of the forum's login process.

Dear community,

today I want to write about Path MTU Discovery, which currently is in development and needs some more testing to get implemented into IPFire 2.

Dear community,

here is another thing with which this project would need your help: Wikipedia.

Dear Friends,

We'd like to formally introduce the "IPFire Wishlist":http://wishlist.ipfire.org – The new IPFire crowd funding platform. The wishlist is the IPFire crowd funding platform where you can donate to help accelerate the development of your favorite features.

I have uploaded samba 3.5.19-43 to the 2.11-i586 testing tree. (arm5tel and 2.13 versions will follow)

The kernel backports are nearly finished and so its time to test on as much hardware as possible.

Hello,

today, the IPFire websites got a small facelift. Along with these changes comes "IPFire Wishlist - The IPFire crowd funding platform":http://wishlist.ipfire.org/.

It's not a secret any more, that Copfilter will be ported to IPFire ("de":http://www.copfilter.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=822, "en":http://www.copfilter.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=823).

Today, we are releasing the 63rd Core Update for IPFire 2.11. This update fixes some minor problems and fixes two security issues in apache.

Hello,

we must apologize, but because of illness and laziness, this update is a bit delayed. We originally planned to release it about two weeks ago, but for now, the planned release is this Friday.

The German version of Linux Magazine, called Linux-Magazin, published an article about Linux-based firewall systems which are easy to maintain - even for inexperienced users.

Hello,

this is a reminder for the "Copfilter Survey":http://planet.ipfire.org/post/ipfire-and-firefilter-aka-copfilter which has been started a while ago. The goal of the survey is to find out if the communities, both support the idea of porting Copfilter to IPFire.

bq. Possibly, it's just a really bad USB controller chip, combined with a sad way to hook it up to the processor, combined with with a truly horrible driver make for the fact that USB works at all on this board a total miracle. Today, we are releasing the 62nd Core Update for IPFire 2.11. This update fixes some security problems and also adds some new functionality.

PayPal has always been a problem for us. There are lots of reasons, why people refuse to use it.

Hello,

as we all are currently in the mood for testing, the next minor update has been pushed into the testing tree.
So, please test IPFire 2.11 Core Update 62 - which brings various security and bug fixes.

This is one of many posts which will introduce some of the new features of IPFire 2.13. Before you ask, there is not release date set, yet because IPFire 2.13 still needs a lot of testing! Hello IPFire community!

A new major update is coming for IPFire 2. IPFire 2.13, codename "thirteen", has just reached its beta state.
Although a lot of work has already been done, there is still plenty to do, in which you can take part in!

Hey folks,

today, I want to point you to a thread on the Copfilter forum. They are having a poll if to port Copfilter to IPFire.

Hey,

once again I would like to beg for a bit of support.

Julian McConnell, one of the IPFire Community developers from the United States, has been working on replacing LCD4Linux. This is a short story about what you can expect:

The IPFire development team has just released the 61st core update for IPFire 2.11.

The brand new IPFire website got a minor update which adds torrent downloads to every downloadable image.

Yesterday, I pushed a prototype of a new dnynamic DNS client for IPFire 3 written in pure Python.

I'd like to give you all a short overview about the next plans for IPFire 2. As we developers are heavily working on IPFire 3, which is making very good progress, but is not yet ready for beta testing, we are planning to release another major release of IPFire 2 which will be called IPFire 2.13.

Good morning,

today, there has been an update of the IPFire website. I hope you like it.

Because this has been asked very often recently:

I have started a wiki page for the Raspberry Pi with a test setup and some pictures.

I have uploaded samba 3.5.16-41 to the i586 testing tree).

Guess what you get when you put a precompiled kernel and the IPFire 3.x root filesystem together? A running version of IPFire 3 on the Raspberry Pi computer!

A quick note in advance: If you don't like me talking about this ARM stuff all the time, just ignore this post. If you do, please have a look at the last paragraph.

I have uploaded clamav 0.97.5-20 to the i586 testing tree.

We have tried in the last days to develop some new structures for the wiki design, where we can put a lot of more information in, but to have also a clear overview of all the different documentation sections.
Squid the proxy on IPFire are a good example how important it can be to find a outline which makes it possible to explain every configuration point and section of the WUI, because Squids configuration on IPFire is quite comprehensive.
As time went on the extensions area and additional know-how becomes also bigger cause the additional information pool is equal to the growing community and the resultant experience.

Causing of a quiet active community there was a lot of development also for OpenVPN on IPFire. So for this occasion, i want to introduce the newest OpenVPN changes on IPFire.
At this time there is a unsupported release of Core 60 available where all the OpenVPN changes are collected to a temporarily upgrade. So for interested people there is now the possibility to participate on the current development and to support it also with own ideas, patches or simply to check it for eventual Bugs.

Hello guys,

I am writing this to you an behalf of Fajar Ramadhan, who has started an Indonesian website for IPFire. The site is a place for Indonesian people to meet and talk about IPFire, our awesome firewall project.

This is to announce the release of Core Update 60, which comes with a security fix for IPSec. We recommend to update as soon as possible.

After getting a Raspberry Pi i have build a IPFire kernel for the RPi.

Hey,

we are having a downtime of about half an hour today beginning at 1400 CEST.

I have got a "Raspberry Pi":http://www.raspberrypi.org/ yesterday and i try to get IPFire 2.x to start on it.

The last Core Update has just been a week old, but it is now time for the next one.

It is time for the next maintainance update of the IPFire series 2 which is called Core Update 58. This update comes with cryptodev, a bunch of security fixes and minor bugfixes.

If anyone is interested in having a look at the process we´re doing, I´ve uploaded my VMWare image to http://people.ipfire.org/~maniacikarus/IPFire3/.

Hi folks,

this is a the talk titled Introduction to the Pakfire Build Service which has been held on the IPFire Developer Summit 2012.

We need some more testers for core58. We update openssl to support aes-256 encryption via cryptodev. This boost the performance by rooting the encryption via the kernel. Also the webinterface should be a bit faster with the update and also Padlock will be supported again.

Hey,

this is me from the location of our little gathering.

A couple of days ago, I asked for your suggestions about what the IPFire development team should discuss on the next "development summit":http://planet.ipfire.org/post/ipfire-developers-summit-2012-i.

The IPFire development team is doing a summit twice a year. And now it is the time of the year when the first one is taking place (undisclosed time and place).

This post is a response to the following blog entry by Jeffrey: "infoblog.li":http://infoblog.li/raspberry-pi-firewall-mit-ipfire-und-usb-ethernet-moglich/ (Those who don't understand German may use an automatic translation tool...) It talks about whether IPFire will be running on the Raspberry Pi and that the RPi would be a possible replacement for the Alix boards which are quite weak.

The samba development team has released an important security update.

I am proud that I have been assigned to the task of the wiki coordinator. The wiki coordinator is a new task on the IPFire team and I would like to introduce it to you in this brief post:

Today, we are releasing Core Update 57 for IPFire 2.11. It is again a minor bugfix and security update.

Hello,

as many of you may already have seen, our forums at "http://forum.ipfire.org":http://forum.ipfire.org have got an update.

Today, we are releasing Core Update 56 for IPFire 2.11. It is a minor bugfix and security update.

The IPFire project has changed its bug tracking software to Bugzilla:

January 13, 2012

A short notice for all of you who have tried to install IPFire in the last two days:

The IPFire project got its first mirror server in Japan which is contributed by Yamagata University located in Yonezawa.

Today, we are going to release two new core updates for the IPFire firewall distribution.

Being on the road over the Christmas break i had to use mobile broadband and some low bandwidth internet connections. Using a proxy and good internet connection at home i was frustrated by all the advertisement and blinking pop-ups i faced these days. So I decided to give a little hint to all those people who just thought proxy can only be used for caching and XXX site blocking.

Because some important upstream fixes on the proxy we have decided to update it and rebuild the core54 update. All testers that have already installed the core54 before 28.12.2011 should reinstall it.
