In this step, you will make essential configurations, which will bring your IPFire system on to the network.
Keyboard mapping
First, pick the keyboard layout.

Timezone
Pick the timezone.

Hostname
Enter the hostname of the new IPFire installation.

Domain Name
Enter domain name of the new IPFire installation (e.g., localdomain, lan, etc.)

Passwords
On the two following screens, you will have to provide passwords for the root
and admin
users. Please pick a strong password as the security of the IPFire system depends on it! Especially for the root
password!
Note: No characters will be displayed while typing the password.
The root
account is used for command line login only. It is not used for the Web User Interface (WebUI).

The admin
password is required to access the WebUI. It is not used for the command line.

Network configuration
After that, you have finished the initial setup and the system will boot up. Go on with Step 5: Network Setup.
